ultraviolet9a: (angry sam)

So I've been skimming through my extremely intelligent flist and yeah, they are right:

Sam is totally John. Or rather John x2.  And also, I've been writing a fic where OMG SAM IS LIKE THAT so i'm entitled to a jared shimmy right now, except that's not the point of the entry either.

I've got this theory that the Trickster is trying to help Sam get used to the idea of Dean dying and letting go. Cuz if Sam doesn't let go, the Trickster is pretty sure he'll lead the Demon army and wreck the world in order to get Dean back, and I think the Trickster is a bit like Whedon Spike minus the soul (except less hot): he LIKES the world and doesn't want to see it go. Right? He doesn't want to see the bad guys win.

What i don't get is how a Trickster works. Can he bend reality or merely form illusions? Can he manipulate time? What? I don't get it. I mean, if he did, wouldn't it be freaking easy plot wise to have the Winchesters find a way of twisting his arm and having him just annul the whole Dean thing? Or maybe have them back to a point where they kill the demon without the whole cowboy cemetary or even John dying? (you knew i'd mention John, right? Right? It's me we're talking about, people. You knew that.) Or is the Trickster also bound by certain rules and... Ok, you know what? I got a fuzzy brain. I think that hug did it. Also the IMPOSSIBLE. SAM. AWESOMENESS. GAAAAH.

Right.

Irrelevant. Anyone care to beta a four page piece? It's gen, deals with the boys, spoiler for 3.10.

The thing about a trickster is, that it would be a very bad idea to trust it to do anything but mischief because, even if it wasn't trying to trick you, which it would, and even if it did try to do what you wanted, it would screw it up so you wouldn't get the result you wanted, but instead you would have some unintended and really irritating result instead.

They're a "Please? I thought you wanted fleas!" sort.

That's a good point, but still, i'm thinking that once the deadline draws near and they're desperate, everything will be worth a shot, no?

And i bet Sam would risk it and to hell with consequences.

Would Sam risk it? Why not? Once Dean's going to hell, there isn't much even a trickster can do that will screw up any worse. But I wouldn't expect a good outcome--just a different, and perhaps slightly less dire outcome. But I'd only expect a less dire outcome because anything that is NOT going to hell is by definition less dire.
