ultraviolet9a: (angry sam)

So I've been skimming through my extremely intelligent flist and yeah, they are right:

Sam is totally John. Or rather John x2.  And also, I've been writing a fic where OMG SAM IS LIKE THAT so i'm entitled to a jared shimmy right now, except that's not the point of the entry either.

I've got this theory that the Trickster is trying to help Sam get used to the idea of Dean dying and letting go. Cuz if Sam doesn't let go, the Trickster is pretty sure he'll lead the Demon army and wreck the world in order to get Dean back, and I think the Trickster is a bit like Whedon Spike minus the soul (except less hot): he LIKES the world and doesn't want to see it go. Right? He doesn't want to see the bad guys win.

What i don't get is how a Trickster works. Can he bend reality or merely form illusions? Can he manipulate time? What? I don't get it. I mean, if he did, wouldn't it be freaking easy plot wise to have the Winchesters find a way of twisting his arm and having him just annul the whole Dean thing? Or maybe have them back to a point where they kill the demon without the whole cowboy cemetary or even John dying? (you knew i'd mention John, right? Right? It's me we're talking about, people. You knew that.) Or is the Trickster also bound by certain rules and... Ok, you know what? I got a fuzzy brain. I think that hug did it. Also the IMPOSSIBLE. SAM. AWESOMENESS. GAAAAH.

Right.

Irrelevant. Anyone care to beta a four page piece? It's gen, deals with the boys, spoiler for 3.10.

Definitely agree on the Trickster point. He's so gray area-Spike. Also, He's already shown that he doesn't like assholes. And most of the demons we've seen certainly qualify.

As for his abilities? Maybe he can alter the natural world (aliens and wormholes are natural, right?), but not the Supernatural. Does that make sense?

Date: 2008-02-16 06:09 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ultraviolet9a.livejournal.com
Yeah, that actually does make sense. But... Dean dying over and over... I'm not sure how his resurrection qualifies as natural. Hmmm.

Date: 2008-02-17 05:19 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] i-speak-tongue.livejournal.com
well, he technically isn't resurrecting Dean. He's making it tuesday again. And Dean just happens to be alive on tuesday morning. And it's not that what the Trickster DOES is natural, it's that the stuff he does it to/with is earthly, human stuff. (Time, alligators, pancakes, super-models etc...)

Rationalized enough for ya? ;)

After much pondering, that's also the conclusion I came to. *fondly remembers Spike's happy meal with legs comment*

Oh lord, how much did I love Spike then... *cough* I still do. How can anyone NOT love Spike is my question, really. :)

*nods* Spike is awesome. Though I preferred him in early "Buffy" and "Angel" to how he was toward the end of "Buffy."

Even if you already have a beta, would you mind terribly if I tried my hand at it? I used to be an English major and I love editing. :)

I'm hoping to complete another piece this week. Would it be ok with you if i send the new piece over to you once it's done, instead of this one?

And also, did i say omg THANK YOU? This fandom/flist is amazingly generous. *nods*

:) Oh yeah, for sure. I'm excited to try my hand at this. And I'm excited to read another one of your pieces. They make me shimmy inside.

Date: 2008-02-17 09:24 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ultraviolet9a.livejournal.com
Nah, it's our boys that make you shimmy. :)

*sigh*

Right. Papers to correct. Tests to print out. And maybe THEN i can actually sit down and write. Don't you just hate it when real life interrupts your fiction? *grin*

Date: 2008-02-17 03:23 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] csweird.livejournal.com
Well, that's true. The boys do make me shimmy on a regular basis.

Real life is such a drag. :)

Real life is such a drag. :) when doing chores, totally. But i have marked my papers AND i have ficced. Therefore i'm very happy, and quite possibly hyper too.

So, remember how i said i'd have another piece ready? Well... it's done. HEEEEEH. *pure and utter glee*

You still willing? :) (only catch is, is there any chance to have it ready tuesday night the latest? It's 4 pages long.)

If you are, drop me a note at ultraviolet9a@yahoo.co.uk so that i can have your email and send you the piece.

The thing about a trickster is, that it would be a very bad idea to trust it to do anything but mischief because, even if it wasn't trying to trick you, which it would, and even if it did try to do what you wanted, it would screw it up so you wouldn't get the result you wanted, but instead you would have some unintended and really irritating result instead.

They're a "Please? I thought you wanted fleas!" sort.

That's a good point, but still, i'm thinking that once the deadline draws near and they're desperate, everything will be worth a shot, no?

And i bet Sam would risk it and to hell with consequences.

Date: 2008-02-16 08:42 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] camille-is-here.livejournal.com
Would Sam risk it? Why not? Once Dean's going to hell, there isn't much even a trickster can do that will screw up any worse. But I wouldn't expect a good outcome--just a different, and perhaps slightly less dire outcome. But I'd only expect a less dire outcome because anything that is NOT going to hell is by definition less dire.

From: [identity profile] ultraviolet9a.livejournal.com
I totally agree with you on this one.

So true. Sam and John are just too similar (though I love how Sam was so careful to make his bed in the morning, and keep his research all lined up and organised on the wall, like he wanted to tell himself he wasn't being like that. HOMG SAM!)

Date: 2008-02-16 06:34 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ultraviolet9a.livejournal.com
Sam is scary in that mode. Hot as hell (isn't he always) but scary. I think he has it in him to be... Roland of Gilead. (If you've read the Dark Towers series, you'll know what i mean. If not, i'll find another metaphor. :) )

And heeeh! That icon of yours never fails to make me laugh.

I think the Trickster shoved Sam into a pocket dimension, and for him all those Tuesdays and then the three months passed, but in the rest of the world? Only a few seconds. So nothing actually got reset or bent, or whatever. Sam was just gone for a few seconds.

From: [identity profile] ultraviolet9a.livejournal.com
Actually, I really like that theory. A lot. But the thing is Dean remembers some of it, in a hazy way, doesn't he?

This is a good point.

Hmm... maybe he's picking up on Sam's memories because he's psychic, too?

Date: 2008-02-18 03:12 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ultraviolet9a.livejournal.com
But... he's not really picking memories, is he? He doesn't remember anything much of... importance. Just very hazy outlines.

That's 'cause he's not as powerful a psychic.

Date: 2008-02-19 03:14 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ultraviolet9a.livejournal.com
If he's not a powerful psychic you'd expect him to pick up on the most OMFG things, not the faint ones. (I'm annoying. I know.)

Stop being difficult! Dude, what'd you have me do? Alter my genetic code?

You know I'm right. I know that you know that you're think you're right. Does that count? *loves being a fiveyear old*

Anyhow, we'll see. Hopefully The Kripke will feed us more clues.

Sam is totally John. Or rather John x2.

Oh, hell yes! Totally in agreement. Both are capable of falling deeply into his obsessions with blinkers on.

If the world goes to hell, where's he gonna get his jollies from? You are definitely on to something here.

I got a fuzzy brain. I think that hug did it.

Didn't Sam look like a five year-old who found the favourite teddy bear that he'd lost? Utterly adorable.
