On writing and real life. Absolute epiphany days.

Hey, I caught up with my flist. And fics in general and read some pretty awesome stuff. Go me. And go to the writers too. Cuz really. Most SPN writers rock.

And I'm on vacation which is nice, and tomorrow I got a waxing appointment, which is freaky, and my brother arrived at last, and gods have I missed him. (Perfect exploitation opportunity too, since my birthday is coming soon. Let's see what I'll get him to buy me. Cuz he's a big brother and it's his duty to indulge his younger oh so adorable sister. Oh yes. Call me River. Or Sam. *evil laugh* {and I say that in a totally nonincestway cuz really. Ew.*})

Epiphany weekend
for three reasons:
1. I've just discovered what I always suspected: I'm a one shot gen girl at heart. I've been struggling with SPN/Firefly xovers for weeks, and they go painfully slow, but they go {and I'm not a WIP person, so no way in hell I'm submitting till I've written at least 3/4 of the fic and KNOW that I'm going to end it say, before I get my pension.} And suddenly I'm listening to a song, and out comes a six page ficlet as smooth as breath. I'm waiting for my beta. Oh god let her like it. I like it.

2. All of the sudden it hit me what kind of tattoo I want to do at some point in my life (again, preferably before I'm pensioned). It hit me with the force of a sledgehammer and feels kind of steady as a choice, and left me in a Huh! mood. So. Huh.

3. I've watched a couple of the very first episodes of Veronica Mars and because curiosity is a major drive for me (how stuff works, when stuff happened, why stuff happened etc), and Veronica is a fun show, but not exactly the owner of my heart, of course I had to go and check up on who killed Lily.(spoilers ahoi, don't read on if you don't know), So I text  [personal profile] e313and tell her
Heh! Wanna know who done it? Wasn't the butler! and she says Yes. So I say Logan's dad. She was sleeping with both father and son. The slut. and then realize (No, wait. I want to do the same with the Winchesters. NO slut.). And then she tells me something in the lines that I have to watch Prison Break because I'd reach new levels of obsession with Michael and I'm like Hmm. Michael sacrificing everything for his brother. HMMM. Let me think. THE WINCHESTERS DO IT BETTER. And probably last longer too.
So where's the epiphany in that? I suppose in the fact that the Winchesters are the yardstick I measure every other show against. Oh god, Kripke, you've damaged me for life.

*frown* Nothing else going on.

* and that by the way is my personal take on things, not an invitation for dispute. Because I have a brother, and because we're really close, incest just icks me beyond words. Even in fic. I know I'm probably missing out on great writing, but hey...we'll all survive.

Haha, I've come to the realization that I will probably live my life a lonely virgin because no man will ever be able to reach the bar that has been set by Dean Martin Winchester. He has ruined all potential romances for the rest of my life.

(Really, that's probably not entirely true, but at the moment, it sure seems like it.)

Hee.

*hugs you*

Dean Martin Winchester... ;-P

Martin? :) For some odd reason I never saw them as middlename guys. Just Samuel Winchester, Dean Winchester, John Winchester. Laconic and efficient.

Though Martin DOES sound awfully cute. :)

And yes, the bar they have set...

Oh my! Are you right? Crap if you are not right!! No other show compares: where will you find charactrer development, a well written plot, CONTINUITY -- which in others shows has always driven me so crazy, hot AND talented actors and the ability to make you cry and laugh week after week.

Also, I'm glad I'm married and in love with my husband, otherwise, like your friend rightly says, I'd be ruined for life for any man :D

Amen to that. And big emphatic YES and Hallelujah sprinkled on top of it. Our show rocks in many, complicated ways. :)

(And yei you on the family life! It's so nice hearing people that have found their soul mate! )

I've completely re-evaluated my WIPs now that I have two of them in the works and lots of other ideas I want to write. As soon as they are done, I'm going to move them to the "write everything before you post it" or make them smaller encapsulated stories, ala Gobsmacked. So, we'll see...

I guess that's personal choice. I tend to read WIPS if I know that the chapters are not exactly cliffhangery and they are being consistently updated. Writing is a different story. I just know that I don't write long fics (well, at least not until now) so as far as writing WIP goes, I know I just...can't. It would take the fun out of writing if I knew I'd left half a story hanging there. I would have to complete it compulsively and not being able to would agitate me. So. I'm submitting stuff that are complete or are standalones. And have fun writing. :)

For some reason I still can't fathom, my brain writes on a very large canvas. But it is hard to flip between different stories every week or so...and I confess that I get impatient at how long it takes to complete some of them that way. My goal is to make a big push on the WIPs after I finish Old!Chesters and get both of them done while probably writing GS on the side.
